James Moir

James is a Director at Madison Marcus and is the head and founder of the firm’s Strata division. Admitted as a solicitor 30+ years ago, and since 2010 has specialised in strata law. James is recognised as one of the leading strata law experts in NSW. He has a broad range of expertise, including strata-specific disputes and advice, detailed defect advice, negotiating access deeds and all of the challenging core property aspects of strata law. James personally runs contested strata hearings in NCAT and has grown a team with expertise in other diverse areas, like compulsory appointments, amending management statements and negotiating easements. He has been at the centre of Madison Marcus developing a reputation in the strata space of being a resolve first, litigate the second firm. This approach has been well received and appreciated by strata managers and committees. He is actively involved in education, having presented seminars to other lawyers and many educational seminars to strata managers.
